The A98 is uniquely positioned to establish keys simultaneously for both conventional and Remote Key capable ATMs. With the newer Encrypting PIN Pads (EPPs) such as EPP4s and EPP5s and the associated firmware and software for ATMs, the A98-R utilizes public key technology to automatically create a random master key and distribute it compliantly to the ATM without the requirement of a person (or persons) having to be on location.

In order for the A98-R to remote key an ATM, the A98-R must have a connection to the EPP during the rekey process. On way to accomplish this is to have minor modifications made to the terminal handler function as it relates to communicating with remote key capable ATMs. Many companies supplying ATM host driving solutions have versions of terminal handlers available to integrate with the A98 and A98-R. If you use proprietary software, we welcome the chance to share the necessary technical material you would need to directly interface with the A98-R.

BASE24™ Host Connectivity For Remote Key

Customers installing the A98RIF with additional programming to support A98-R Remote Key interface will also have added an A98RLIB (Library) which works with the Device Handler or terminal handler software to define the different ATM manufacturer remote key protocols parameters. For key requests for Remote Key enabled ATMs, the A98RIF and A98RLIB interface will communicate to the A98 via TCP/IP and send updates directly to the CSECD database.

Over time and with many different ATMs in the market, TSS can add new capabilities and new ATM remote key protocols from different ATM manufactures by updating the A98LIB and assisting with any necessary device handler changes.
